We are proud to share that Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grey Bruce and Western Simcoe (BBBSGBWS) has partnered with the Georgian College Students’ Association (GCSA)!

Students for Change is an exciting partnership for both students at the college and youth in our programs as it allows for all to broaden their network as well as seek interesting opportunities that focus on community relationships, leadership, and civic engagement.

The GCSA is an organization driven by students, elected by the student body, and supported by staff. Their vision is to be a recognized and engaged executive council that promotes the rights of students, heightens student engagement, and enhances the quality of student life. It will prepare confident leaders of tomorrow, while respecting the diversity and strength of all.

Through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Grey Bruce and Western Simcoe, college students will be supported by training, volunteerism, mentorship, and network opportunities. For youth in our programs, this partnership is an opportunity to plug into what’s happening at Georgian College and connect with post-secondary students on community minded projects.

In November we had our first in school collaboration, where BBBSGBWS high school students were invited to tour the Owen Sound Georgian campus and connect with the GCSA. Youth learned about the association, what programs were offered at the college, and had the chance to find out what life in post-secondary was like. Georgian students in return were able to learn more about BBBSGBWS and get involved with our mentorship programs!

We are excited about working together and are open to any suggestions from students and youth about opportunities to connect, get involved, and uplift each other and our community.
