It was our first year hosting a pickleball tournament – and what a fun weekend it was!
In partnership with Taylored Pickleball Academy, we saw over 100 players compete in our first ever Bigger Together Pickleball Tournament on July 7th & 8th. We even had some Littles join in the tournament, who, well, gave our Executive Director a run for her money!
A successful 50/50 raffle also spiced up the weekend with over 250 tickets sold, both in advance and at the Wiarton Ribefest. The winner was announced this morning on CFOS with Fred Wallace and The Great Paul Hill! A huge congrats goes out to Cathy for purchasing the golden ticket!
We also had some awesome sponsors who helped us raise funds for our 2023 youth programming – so a special thank you to the Town of South Bruce Peninsula, Foodland Wiarton, and Giant Tiger Port Elgin!
Along with the generous proceeds, we were also incredibly excited to host an event in a new community and increase awareness in the new areas of out catchment, that being Western Simcoe and along the peninsula.
The BBBSGBWS staff and board thank everyone who was involved this year and who helped make this Bigger Together Pickleball tournament a success! We are so grateful for the commitment and belief you all have in the vision to create communities where young people belong and are empowered to unluck their potential! Current research suggests young people are more likely to flourish when they are embedded in a web of relationships with supportive carding adults- and all of us together are making this happen!
This past weekend was truly a way for players to make a real social impact!
